Utilizing advanced data analytics and machine learning, NSPARC empowers informed decision making.

The Center for Distance Education works with faculty and departments to develop and deliver online and hybrid educational programs and provides instructional support.

MSU has four regional Research and Extension Centers—North Mississippi, Delta, Central Mississippi and Coastal—with additional satellite stations, giving researchers access to differing soils, climates, agricultural systems and communities around the state.

Then there are resources such as the Starr Forest, Bulldog Forest properties, Wolf River Coastal Forest Research and Education Center, South Farm and North Farm. For certain USDA, NSF, DOE, NOAA and environmental proposals, these are substantial institutional assets.

MSU now has the BRIDGES Undergraduate Research Program, specifically designed to increase undergraduate participation in research. Participating centers include ACI, ASSURE, Athletic Engineering, CAVS, CCI, the MSU Chemical Lab, NSPARC, Raspet and SSRC groups.

The Office of Undergraduate Research and Creative Discovery (URCD) at Mississippi State University connects students with meaningful opportunities, offers resources to guide them through the research process, and provides faculty with tools and information to mentor student researchers effectively.

If you plan to have activities or research that will be performed INTERNATIONALLY, consider reaching out to the staff at the International Institute's International Research Development office. This ORED unit serves as a source of institutional knowledge regarding international funding sources and university contacts and can assist you with research funding, proposal development, scientific exchanges, global development seed grants, and global engagement funding. 

MSU's Research Security Program now explicitly covers training, export control, international travel and cybersecurity and applies to federally funded research.

Export-control issues can arise from international collaborations, financial transactions, shipments, technology transfers, travel and restricted research materials.

This is especially important because these resources can strengthen the Facilities, Equipment and Other Resources attachment and sometimes demonstrate institutional capacity without adding a new budget item.

A few particularly useful MSU resources to point faculty toward:

• Institute for Imaging and Analytical Technologies (I2AT) — I2AT is explicitly a university-wide core facility and makes major research instrumentation available to MSU and external users. It also has an equipment list and user-fee information. See the I2AT Partner Profile.
• High Performance Computing Collaboratory (HPC²) —MSU has substantial high-performance computing infrastructure, including the Portera HPC Building/data center, CAVS facilities, and facilities at Stennis Space Center. See the HPC² Partner Profile.
• Raspet Flight Research Laboratory — Aircraft, UAS, command-and-control, flight testing, payload evaluation, engineering support and access to extensive civilian/restricted airspace.
• Advanced Composites Institute (ACI) — ACI has a large development center/high bay, robotic stitching, composite layup facilities, resin infusion, curing oven, autoclave, fabrication capabilities, etc.
• Center for Advanced Vehicular Systems (CAVS) — CAVS  is a world-class technology development center comprised of engineering, research, development and technology transfer teams. • R. R. Foil Plant Science Research Center/North Farm — approximately 750 acres, including roughly 550 tillable acres, plus greenhouse infrastructure.
• SPAR Facility — specialized controlled-environment soil-plant-atmosphere research chambers and extensive environmental sensing/data acquisition capabilities.
• College of Forest Resources facilities — the Sustainable Bioproducts Complex, R.T. Clapp Forest Products Laboratory, forest/wildlife facilities, aquaculture facilities, greenhouses, Starr Forest, Wolf River and Bulldog Forest collectively represent some enormous field-research capacity.
• Animal and Dairy Sciences laboratories and facilities — including cell culture, molecular/biochemical analysis and other shared laboratory resources.
